Young People on the Labor Front During the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 (Based On Materials of the Mordovian ASSR)

Abstract

Introduction. The solution of many problems facing modern Russian society in the context of political and socio-economic changes depends on the ability to use historical experience, to learn lessons from the past. Therefore, there is a need to rethink the phenomena of the past. Young people are one of the most important groups of the population, to which the state’s attention is riveted today, because the young population of the country is the basis of future transformations and the changes that will occur in the future depend on what kind of youth there are today. The purpose of the article is to identify the main areas of assistance of Komsomol members to the country’s front during the Great Patriotic War based on the materials of the Mordovian ASSR.

Materials and Methods. To achieve the above goal, archival materials located in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Mordovia were used. The study was conducted on the basis of the principles of historicism, truth and reliance on historical sources. The article is based on the use of general scientific methods, such as: analysis, synthesis, deduction, as well as special historical methods, for example, the historical-genetic method, with the help of which we were able to determine the origins and development of assistance to young people during the war years, in addition, the problem-chronological method was used in the study to identify the main stages and directions of development of assistance to young people during the Great Patriotic War.

Results. This article shows the main directions of assistance to the front by Mordovian youth in 1941–1945, obtained on the basis of archival materials.

Discussion and Conclusion. The author concludes that the active participation of Komsomol members of the Mordovian ASSR during the Great Patriotic War made a significant contribution to bringing the country’s victory over the enemy closer. A large number of young people volunteered for the front, and also acted in the rear, exceeding the production standards of necessary goods to meet the needs of the army. In addition, the charitable activities of Komsomol members played a significant role in the socio-economic recovery of the country. Komsomol members demonstrated a high level of patriotism and love for the Motherland through voluntary trips to restore destroyed factories in Stalingrad and other regions.
