From September 30 to October 2, 2016 in Saransk an international scientific confer-ence «History of industrialization and industrial heritage of Russia in the context of interdis-ciplinary research: information approaches and models» was held. Representatives of vari-ous scientific centers, universities, museums and other organizations successfully studying the history of industrialization and participating in the preservation of Russia’s industrial heritage were able to communicate creatively at the conference site.

One of the key issues actively discussed at the conference was the development of an integrated methodological toolkit, aimed at studying the industrial heritage in all the di-versity of its subject components. The most important direction of the conference is to dis-cuss the use of natural scientific methods of historical reconstruction of monuments of in-dustrial heritage. The need to strengthen the activity in the field of expanding the source base is mentioned to carry out this kind of work, represented by the data of industrial ar-cheology, as well as visual and graphic information in the form of plans, drawings, computer animations, the exteriors of factory facilities, etc. A comprehensive study of the industrial heritage opens up wide prospects, allowing not only to broaden the horizons of research thematically, but also to deepen the understanding of the problems that have become tradi-tional for this direction.
