Mordovian District in the Mirror of Social and Demographic Statistics
Abstract
Introduction. The article attempts to provide a socio-demographic characteristic of the population of the Mordovian District. The relevance of the topic is determined by the importance of solving the demographic problem for the modern Russian state, since the implementation of demographic policy is impossible without studying the demographic processes that took place in the past.
Materials and Methods. The main source base for the study were documents of the Central State Archives of the Republic of Mordovia, as well as statistical materials. The work is based on the application of an integrated methodological approach: general scientific and special scientific (historical-comparative, historical-systemic, historical-statistical, etc.) were used.
Results. The following demographic indicators were studied: the number of population and its density; the size of urban and rural settlements; gender, national and age composition of the population; data on natural population movement, marriage and divorce rates were analyzed.
Discussion and Conclusion. The study of socio-demographic processes among the population of the Mordovian District allows us to better understand the significance of the creation of Mordovian autonomy for the socio-cultural development of the region, which was considered one of the most backward in the Volga region.
